Site Reliability Engineer III

About the role

onX is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer III to own and evolve the infrastructure platform that enables developers to ship reliably at scale. You will work on a high‑growth, distributed team building services for millions of outdoor enthusiasts.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, monitor, and maintain highly available systems using Terraform, GCP services (GKE, Cloud SQL, Bigtable, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run) and CockroachDB.
• Maintain and extend a large, mature Terraform codebase and automate manual processes to reduce toil.
• Analyze performance, availability, and cost, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Integrate with monitoring and alerting tools such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Checkly, and Rootly.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, drive incident response best practices, and influence architectural decisions.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting production systems, with at least 3 years in SRE or similar roles.
• Strong interest and hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, networking, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Demonstrated ownership, problem‑solving ability, and a craft‑mindset toward engineering.
