Principal Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

Bexorg seeks a Principal Embedded Software Engineer to lead the electronics, firmware, and real‑time control for the BrainEx whole‑brain perfusion platform. This role blends hardware design, firmware development, and software integration to support a closed‑loop physiological system for human brain research.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain bare‑metal and RTOS firmware (C/C++ on ARM Cortex‑M, FreeRTOS/Zephyr) and embedded‑Linux supervisory layers across the fleet.
• Design and bring up custom electronics, including schematic capture, PCB layout (Altium/KiCad), sensor front‑ends, and high‑precision analog/digital interfaces.
• Implement control loops (PID, cascade, feedforward) for pressure, flow, temperature, pH, and gas exchange with deterministic timing and safety interlocks.
• Design fluidic and mechanical hardware in CAD (SolidWorks/Onshape), prototype via 3D printing, and qualify machined parts for production.
• Build Python supervisory software, telemetry pipelines to AWS, and operator interfaces for multi‑day runs.

Required profile

• Senior‑level engineer with broad expertise across firmware, electronics, mechanical design, and software integration.
• Hands‑on experience prototyping, testing, and iterating hardware and firmware in a fast‑paced, research‑driven environment.
