Principal Analog Validation Engineer

About the role

NXP is hiring a Principal Analog Validation Engineer in Austin (Oakhill). The engineer validates key product KPIs defined in the system compliance matrix for all analog circuitry on a platform, measuring what needs to be measured in the most automated way possible and reporting results clearly. The role ensures that instrumentation, scripts and boards are ready before silicon arrives on the bench.

Key responsibilities

• Build parametric validation plans from electrical specifications.
• Write software to configure the device under test for each test case.
• Create hardware automation sequences for parametric measurements across process, voltage, temperature and DUT configurations.
• Analyze parametric data to report pass/fail/margin against electrical specs and generate summary reports.
• Interface with Design, Product and Test Engineering, Applications, Software and Product Analysis teams to debug IP-related issues.
• Research and recommend hardware needed for measurements, and generate hardware design requirements.
• Participate in schematic and layout reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
• 5-10 years of industry experience.
• Experience with high-speed/RF lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BER testers, vector network analyzers and phase noise analyzers.
• C programming experience.
• Familiarity with SerDes validation and Ethernet IEEE 802.3 and PCIe protocols is desired.
• Able to debug silicon and signal integrity issues.

Required skills

• TestStand and Python are a plus.
• Data analysis with Excel, JMP and/or PowerBI.
• Schematic reading and debugging of hardware setups.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• AI prompting for software generation is a plus.
