HW Validation Engineer (SerDes, Automotive Grade)

About the role

NXP is looking for a HW Validation Engineer for silicon validation, working on SerDes and other high-speed interfaces within Aviva's automotive-grade products. The role covers both pre-silicon and post-silicon validation and production, ensuring functionality, performance, power, reliability, stress and stability, and eventually automotive qualification. Locations available are San Diego and San Jose, California, or Austin, Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed validation test plans and validation methodologies and infrastructure to achieve coverage.
• Develop test cases, test environments and automation scripts using Python, and use hardware and software tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, traffic generators and analyzers.
• Work with design, DV, analog and firmware teams to debug, root-cause and resolve issues, and work with operations on bench screening and high-volume ATE functional screening.
• Document test plans, test results and validation coverage reports, and communicate them to stakeholders through regular reports.
• Build scripts and web-based tools to automate validation and firmware QA tests, and to collect reports and diagnostics data.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in silicon validation of high-speed networking SerDes, mixed-signal, analog and digital ICs and blocks, with knowledge of PCS and PMA networking layers.
• Hands-on experience debugging and characterizing high-speed interfaces such as CSI-2 and Ethernet.
• Expertise in script-based test automation (Python) and strong general scripting skills.
• Experience developing GUIs for hardware and firmware debug is a plus.
