Preschool Lead Teacher

About the role

The YMCA in Andover is seeking a dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. You will plan and deliver daily lessons, monitor progress, and foster strong relationships with families.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities, submitting weekly lesson plans and supply lists.
• Maintain a balanced daily schedule with active and quiet periods, and rotate learning centers and toys.
• Observe and record children’s developmental progress using checklists, daily reports, and formal assessments.
• Communicate regularly with parents, greeting them by name, sharing successes, and documenting any behavior concerns.

• Demonstrate maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment, and a genuine desire to work with children.
• Ability to supervise participants, maintain safety standards, and handle conflicts professionally.
