Power Distribution and Make Ready Designer (Remote)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Power Distribution or Make‑Ready Designer to support utility engineering projects for major electric and telecom utilities. The position is remote, with a mandatory two‑week paid orientation at our headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

Key responsibilities

• Execute overhead distribution and make‑ready design work orders while meeting quality, schedule, and budget targets.
• Apply NESC standards, internal processes, and engineering design criteria.
• Perform end‑to‑end make‑ready, joint‑use, and general distribution design, including permitting and easement research.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve design challenges and ensure accurate deliverables.
• Use design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, DDS, PoleForeman, O‑Calc, Katapult, GIS) to model pole loading and prepare construction‑ready packages.
• Conduct quality‑control reviews and support additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in make‑ready engineering, joint‑use design, or electric power distribution design (3 + years strongly preferred).
• Proven experience in utility pole design, NESC application, clearance analysis, pole loading concepts, and preparation of construction‑ready design packages.
