Postdoctoral Scholar – Multiphasic Modeling of Porous Materials

About the role

Dr. Tugce Baser’s research group in the Department of Civil Engineering at Saint Louis University seeks two highly motivated postdoctoral scholars. The role focuses on innovative multiphysics research on porous materials, addressing challenges in permafrost, geothermal energy, and adaptive infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate multiphysics models (thermal, chemical, mechanical, hydraulic, wave propagation) for porous media.
• Conduct experimental and numerical studies relevant to terrestrial and extraterrestrial environments.
• Collaborate with theorists and experimentalists, providing guidance to graduate students.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at conferences.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in multiphysics modeling of porous media.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MATLAB.
• Experience using LabVIEW.
• Familiarity with COMSOL Multiphysics.
• Knowledge of TOUGH simulation software.
• Experience with ANSYS.
