Plant Maintenance Technician

About the role

Barilla, a global food manufacturer with plants and offices worldwide, is looking for a Plant Maintenance Technician in Avon, NY. The role keeps production lines running safely and efficiently by troubleshooting, repairing complex equipment and responding quickly to breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment and plant systems
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC and VFD issues
• Complete repairs involving welding, machining, fabrication and electrical work
• Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime
• Maintain plant utility systems such as air compressors, fire protection systems and facility equipment
• Perform equipment changeovers and format/size adjustments
• Calibrate and adjust metal detection systems while keeping required documentation
• Work with Production and Packaging teams, coordinate with outside contractors and vendors, and prioritize work orders to support production schedules
• Take part in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain accurate maintenance records following food safety and quality procedures

Required profile

• Associate degree in a maintenance-related field or at least three years of industrial maintenance experience (mechanical and/or electrical)
• Experience troubleshooting industrial manufacturing equipment
• Welding, machining, fabrication and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production teams

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMMS
• PLC experience, especially Allen-Bradley and Siemens, highly preferred
• Allen-Bradley VFD troubleshooting is a plus
