Phlebotomy Lab Tech

About the role

The Phlebotomy Lab Technician collects blood samples from out‑patient patients, packages them for transport, and ensures delivery to the appropriate processing area. The role works early morning dayshift (3:30 AM – 7:30 AM) at Akron General Medical Center.

Key responsibilities

• Perform blood collection procedures, verify order requests and patient information before drawing.
• Label specimens, maintain log sheets, and deliver samples to the processing area.
• Greet patients professionally, enter test requests, and process specimens using lab computer systems.
• Accession, centrifuge, and package various specimen types for transport.
• Communicate essential information to appropriate personnel and transport lab supplies as needed.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Graduate of a Phlebotomy program or at least one year of specimen collection experience.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and perform venipuncture with appropriate visual acuity and manual dexterity.
