Phlebotomist / Medical Assistant

About the role

A skilled Phlebotomist is sought to join the team of Our Partners in Healthcare in Macon, Georgia. The role involves drawing blood from patients, preparing specimens for laboratory testing and ensuring accurate, timely sample collection. Prior phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients, verify their medical history and prepare them for blood draws
• Explain the blood draw procedure and answer questions, and help anxious patients stay calm
• Follow health and safety protocols to keep work areas sanitary
• Select the right needle size and location, use the correct collection tubes and containers, and label samples correctly
• Update patient information accurately in the organization's database
• Work with supervising physicians and follow their directions
• Analyze blood specimens with the correct equipment when needed, and clean, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment
• Restock the lab, order supplies and perform routine office tests such as glucose, strep and flu tests, urinalysis, EKG, TB skin tests and remote patient monitoring setup

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of work experience in a medical facility
• Phlebotomist certification preferred
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and medical laws and ethics
• Excellent dexterity, attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills

What we offer

• Full-time position, 36-40 hours per week
• Pay of $18-$21 per hour (salary range $37,400-$43,600)
