Behavioral Health Counselor (WL) – State of Georgia

About the role

The Department of Community Supervision seeks dedicated counselors to provide guidance, support, and behavior‑modification services to individuals under probation or parole supervision in the Macon circuit.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel individuals under supervision with focus on prevention and behavior modification.
• Act as an advocate to coordinate services such as employment, housing, education, mental health, and substance‑use treatment.
• Conduct assessments, interviews, observations, and random drug screenings.
• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to develop coping skills.
• Develop and implement treatment plans and monitor progress toward measurable goals.
• Maintain confidential case notes, treatment records, and reports.
• Facilitate substance‑use and cognitive programming; may require non‑traditional hours and travel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field, or certification as an addiction counselor (GACA or equivalent).
• Preference for candidates with at least one year of counseling experience, CBT facilitation, and professional credentials such as LPC, CADC/CAC, LCSW, or similar.

What we offer

• Starting salary $45,498.96 (non‑credentialed) or $47,773.91 (credentialed) per year.
