Phlebotomist II – SoLé Mia

About the role

The Phlebotomist II provides blood collection services for pediatric and adult patients at the UHealth SoLé Mia laboratory. The role involves drawing specimens, verifying patient records, and preparing samples for laboratory analysis while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual and patient identification protocols.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens, accession and label orders, and transport samples to the laboratory.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and manage biohazard waste according to SOPs.
• Answer queries about test requisitions, specimen requirements, and patient results, and generate statistical reports for the supervisor.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least two years of relevant phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills for interaction with patients and staff.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy technique and specimen handling.
• Use of laboratory information systems for accession and data entry.
• Inventory management and biohazard disposal procedures.
