Per Diem Registered Nurse – GI RN1

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (GI RN1) to provide patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment. This part‑time, temporary position supports nursing and allied health staff in daily practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review diagnostic tests, consult with physicians and other professionals, and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, and assist with discharge planning.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
