Personnel Security Specialist

About the role

The Personnel Security Specialist provides comprehensive personnel security support to the National Defense University, handling clearance processing, fingerprinting, and access control for a large user base.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain personnel security files, initiate background investigations, and process clearance certifications.
• Capture electronic fingerprints via SWFT, manage badge issuance, and support access control for classified/restricted areas.
• Assist security directors with SCI indoctrination, COMSEC key handling, and property accountability.
• Maintain security data in DISS, NBIS, eApp, and other DoD systems, and generate monthly security reports.

Required profile

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
• U.S. citizenship with fluent English.
• High school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of security experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using NBIS, DISS, National Background Services eApp, and Secure Web Fingerprint Transaction (SWFT).
• Familiarity with Lenel OnGuard security system.
