Staff Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented, mission‑driven Staff Information Systems Security Officer to join our Federal Systems Team. The role is based onsite in Washington and focuses on protecting classified information systems across multiple classification levels, including environments that use Cross Domain Solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls in line with RMF and NIST 800‑53, ensuring DoD and Intelligence Community compliance.
• Support the RMF lifecycle: maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, and coordinate with ISSM, AO and stakeholders.
• Perform continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and patch tracking using tools such as ACAS and Nessus.
• Assist with incident response, audit preparation, and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Oversee Cross Domain Solutions accreditation, validate configurations and data flows.
• Ensure system hardening and configuration management by applying STIGs and maintaining secure baselines.
• Collaborate with engineers and administrators to embed security into system design and MLS environments.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of cybersecurity or ISSO experience in classified environments.
• Hands‑on experience with RMF processes and NIST 800‑53 controls.
• Familiarity with STIG compliance and vulnerability assessment tools.
