Personal Support Assistant

About the role

BAYADA is hiring compassionate Personal Support Assistants to provide one‑on‑one companionship and community‑based support for individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and other intellectual and developmental disabilities in Hilo and surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

• Spend time on the client’s favorite hobbies and activities.
• Participate in community integration activities, errands, and appointments.
• Teach, encourage, and celebrate small achievements to foster independence.
• Provide personal care assistance as needed.

Required profile

• At least one year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to transport clients to community activities.
• Proficiency in reading and writing English.

Required skills

• Compassionate caregiving and reliable attendance.
• Basic knowledge of supporting individuals with disabilities.
