Perinatal Sonographer II

About the role

The Perinatal Sonographer II provides high‑risk obstetric ultrasound examinations and procedures following AIUM protocols. The role involves accurate image acquisition, documentation, and collaboration with physicians to support patient care at Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed first‑trimester, low‑risk, and comprehensive fetal anatomy surveys, including 3D/4D imaging when indicated.
• Guide invasive procedures such as chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis using ultrasound.
• Record anatomical, pathological, and physiological data, maintain electronic patient charts, and prepare preliminary reports.
• Select appropriate transducers, adjust equipment settings, and troubleshoot malfunctions to optimize image quality.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED plus Technical School Diploma in Ultrasonography or Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
• RDMS‑OB/GYN certification and BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to maintain regulatory compliance and implement advanced imaging techniques.
• Experience performing detailed obstetric exams and guiding invasive procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ultrasound equipment, transducers, and related applications.
• Knowledge of AIUM protocols and 3D/4D imaging.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation and image storage systems.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) skills.
