People Operations Manager

About the role

Radical Numerics is seeking its first dedicated People Operations lead to own compensation, benefits, immigration, onboarding, compliance and related systems for a fast‑growing AI research lab with teams in Tokyo and San Francisco.

Key responsibilities

• Own compensation and leveling, maintain salary ranges, and run equity scenario modeling.
• Plan and execute performance review cycles.
• Manage end‑to‑end onboarding and offboarding, including visas, I‑9 verification and system access.
• Serve as primary contact with immigration counsel for O‑1, OPT/EAD and green card cases.
• Administer Justworks benefits, open enrollment and state registrations for remote employees.
• Set up international employment through EOR arrangements and partner with employment counsel on employee relations.
• Lead office move planning with real‑estate partners.
• Build policies, handbook and compliance practices before they are needed.

Required profile

• Experience running People Operations at an early‑stage company and building systems from scratch.
• Hands‑on knowledge of U.S. employment immigration, especially O‑1, OPT and H‑1B.
• Understanding of startup compensation, bands, leveling and equity modeling.
• Familiarity with PEO/EOR platforms such as Justworks and multi‑state/international compliance.
• Strong judgment on sensitive issues and ability to involve counsel when needed.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple open threads and document processes.
