Patient Services Representative – Float Pool (Full‑Time, Day Shift)

About the role

The Patient Services Representative in the Float Pool provides the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience while supporting the hospital’s registration and billing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and enter accurate patient demographic and insurance information into the system.
• Verify insurance coverage, obtain pre‑authorizations, and explain benefits and financial responsibilities.
• Answer phones promptly, address patient concerns, and assist with the online patient portal.
• Collect co‑pays, deductibles, and balance payments in accordance with hospital policy.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, regulatory agencies, and hospital procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED required; additional medical receptionist training or two years in a health‑care setting preferred.
• Six months of office, call‑center, customer‑service, or health‑care experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) required.
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, assist patients in wheelchairs, and lift up to 10 lb.

Required skills

• Proficiency in data entry and computer use.
• Knowledge of standard office equipment.
