Patient Service Specialist – Outpatient Imaging

About the role

The Patient Service Specialist supports patients and families across multiple departments, including Emergency, admissions, surgery, radiology and laboratory services. The role ensures a smooth, patient‑first experience through front‑desk operations, registration, billing and technology assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a welcoming environment and proactive "Patients First" service in waiting areas and at the front desk.
• Perform patient registration, co‑pay collection, insurance verification and billing entry.
• Screen and schedule interpreter services and assist patients with MyChart and Appointment Pass tools.
• Conduct telephone triage, relay messages, and generate provider reschedules.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient data and support caregivers in using front‑end technologies.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree with shorter experience.
• Strong customer‑service and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Basic math skills for processing co‑pays and ability to type at least 30 wpm.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 25 lb and use standard office equipment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PC Windows applications for data entry and retrieval.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
