Patient Food Service Host

About the role

AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is hiring a full-time Patient Food Service Host for a day shift (11:15 am to 8 am, every other weekend), working 40 hours per week. The host guides patients through meal ordering, delivers trays according to therapeutic diet guidelines and resolves foodservice concerns to improve the patient dining experience.

Key responsibilities

• Guide patients through meal ordering using a computerized diet office system, making sure selections match prescribed diets and offering personalized suggestions.
• Verify patient identifiers during meal delivery, check tray accuracy and confirm patients have everything they need before leaving the room.
• Round on patients and nursing staff to identify and resolve foodservice concerns, take ownership of complaints and implement service recovery to improve patient experience scores.
• Assemble and deliver trays according to therapeutic diet guidelines and presentation standards, keeping service timely and accurate across all patient areas.
• Perform physically active duties such as walking long distances, standing for long periods and working up to 12-hour shifts, while keeping the workplace clean, organized and compliant.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English (required).
• Ability to communicate with customers in person and by phone, professionally and efficiently (required).
• Ability to handle customer interactions promptly, courteously and helpfully (required).
• High school graduate or equivalent (preferred).

Required skills

• Ability to use common software and hardware such as an iPad and ToughBook (required).
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets (preferred).
• Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred).
• ServSafe certification (preferred).

Pay range: $16.12 - $25.79.
