About the role
The Patient Care Partner provides direct patient care on the night shift, supporting registered nurses with treatments, diagnostic studies, and patient‑centered services. This position is part of Lehigh Valley Health Network’s commitment to high‑quality, safety‑focused care.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver patient care activities, including treatments and diagnostic studies, following RN directions.
- Observe patients, communicate changes or concerns promptly to the RN.
- Use verbal and non‑verbal communication effectively with patients, families, and staff.
- Participate in unit team efforts to meet patient experience and hospital goals.
- Perform validated technical skills specific to the unit’s clinical specialty.
- Conduct equipment quality checks and assist with patient rounds.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Less than 1 year of direct patient‑care experience or successful completion of LVHN’s inexperienced technical partner course.
- Ability to follow directions, organize tasks, and maintain unit‑specific competencies.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to obtain American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification within 30 days.
Required skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Pennsylvania).
- Computer skills for documentation and equipment monitoring.
- Physical ability to lift/carry 40‑50 lb and perform patient transfers.
