Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Oncology/Palliative Unit

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on the 3 Seidman Oncology/Palliative Unit at Hillcrest Hospital, providing supportive care to patients with cancer and related diagnoses. This full‑day position (6:30 am‑7:00 pm) includes rotating weekends and holidays, offering a pathway to further nursing education and career advancement within Cleveland Clinic.

Key responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weight, personal care, ADLs, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, and urinary Foley catheter removal.
• Report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to the RN promptly.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or obtain during hire period).
• Nursing students must have BLS certification prior to hire; recent clinical rotation may substitute required experience.
• Military experience as Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic, or Medical Service Technician considered.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) credential (preferred).
• Proficiency with pulse oximetry and point‑of‑care testing equipment.
• Ability to perform dressing changes and urinary Foley catheter removal.
