About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on Med/Surg and Telemetry units at Fairview Hospital, providing direct patient care under RN supervision. The role supports a healing environment for adult patients with medical and surgical diagnoses.

Key responsibilities

Take vital signs, weight, and assist with personal care and activities of daily living.
Perform patient transfers, transport, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, and apply/remove monitoring devices.
Report abnormal findings to the RN and maintain clean, orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

High School Diploma or GED.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain during new‑hire period).
Eligibility for nursing students or military medical experience considered.
Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading at an eighth‑grade level.

Required skills

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) preferred.
Ability to perform pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, and basic wound care.
