Patient Care Nurse Assistant – Med/Surg (Night Shift)

About the role

The Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) works on the 2 East and 2 South medical‑surgical units at Marymount Hospital, providing essential support to patients undergoing orthopaedic, general surgical and cardiac care. This night‑shift position (7:00 pm‑7:30 am) offers hands‑on experience in a faith‑based acute‑care environment while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians and therapists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide or assist with basic patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weight, ADLs, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, applying monitoring devices and urinary catheter removal.
• Report any abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental or emotional condition to the supervising RN and maintain clean, orderly patient rooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (or obtain during hire).
• Proficiency in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an eighth‑grade level.
• Physical ability to lift and move patients, stand for long periods and perform moderate physical work.
• Preferred: State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) certification or relevant military medical experience.
