About the role
The Patient Care Nurse Assistant works night shifts on the 28‑bed Medical/Surgical Clinical Decision Unit at Mercy Hospital. This fast‑paced unit cares for telemetry and observation patients, providing a supportive environment for healing and recovery.
Key responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under RN supervision, including vital signs, weight, personal care, ADL assistance, patient transfers, pulse oximetry, point‑of‑care testing, dressing changes, monitoring device application and Foley catheter removal.
- Report abnormal physical, mental or emotional findings to the RN promptly.
- Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly, perform hourly rounding, assess fall risks and document intake/output.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or obtain during new‑hire period).
- State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) preferred.
- Physical ability to move and lift patients, stand for extended periods and meet medium work physical demands.
