Patient Access Representative – North Louisiana Region

About the role

The Patient Access Representative greets patients and guests courteously, both by phone and in person, and manages the scheduling, check‑in, and admission processes while ensuring accurate data collection and confidentiality.

Key responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to patients, guests, and families.
• Create, activate, and complete patient scheduling, registration, or hospital admission.
• Gather and input demographic and financial information, explain insurance benefits, and collect co‑pays, deductibles, and self‑pay amounts.
• Perform point‑of‑service collections, balance cash drawer, and prepare deposits.
• Verify insurance electronically, by phone, or via web applications.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local billing regulations and privacy standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, revenue cycle, or customer‑service environment.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data‑entry software.
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, payer guidelines, and billing regulations.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
