Patient Access Representative I

About the role

The Patient Access Representative provides an exceptional experience to patients, families and visitors from entry through discharge. This position supports registration, insurance verification, payment collection and serves as a key point of contact in the admitting and registration department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient registration, gathering demographics, insurance, medical and financial information.
• Crosstrain across patient access areas such as front desk, admitting office, emergency department and cash register.
• Act as a Super User, training new caregivers and providing support in Epic.
• Collect payments and process cash transactions using Epic.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED with two years of customer‑facing experience, or an Associate’s degree with one year of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to understand physician orders.
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Experience using the Epic electronic health record system.
• Proficiency with basic PC software applications and ability to navigate multiple data systems.
