Patent Counsel – Intellectual Property Law

About the role

The Patent Counsel will work closely with internal R&D teams to identify inventions, assess patentability, and draft and prosecute patent applications for novel chemical and biological science inventions. The role supports programs from discovery through commercialization across multiple therapeutic areas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop patenting strategies and build robust IP portfolios for biopharmaceutical products.
• Draft and prosecute patent applications globally for products, candidates, and platform technologies.
• Conduct freedom‑to‑operate analyses and support internal litigation matters.
• Provide IP due diligence for business development activities, including collaborations and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including discovery, development, manufacturing, regulatory, and commercial groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in biological, pharmaceutical or chemical sciences.
• J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and admission to practice before the USPTO.
• Five or more years of experience drafting and prosecuting pharmaceutical or biological patent applications.
• Strong technical background in chemical or biological sciences and excellent communication skills.
