Part-Time Security Officer - Flexible

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, offers a part-time Security Officer position in Chicago, Illinois. The role provides reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the option to pick up extra shifts through a claim-a-shift program, building toward a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is $18.50 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to shoppers, tenants and visitors by following site-specific security procedures, policies and emergency response activities.
• Carry out regular and random unarmed patrols of the retail property, including common areas, storefronts, parking areas and the perimeter.
• Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, disturbances and critical situations, notifying the right people as needed.
• Watch for unusual activity, property concerns and policy violations and report them according to site procedures.
• Help maintain an orderly, welcoming environment and deter unauthorized activity.

Required profile

• At least 6 months of security-related experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older for unarmed roles (21+ for armed roles).
• Background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment; licensing may be required depending on state and local law.
• A valid driver's license is required only for driving positions.

Preferred qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Ability to lift more than 20 pounds.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet.
