Part-Time RN – Acute Care & Emergency (Shelby CAH)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will work in collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to deliver primary and acute care to patients in the Emergency Department and other acute care areas at Shelby Community Acute Hospital. This is a part‑time, 12‑hour shift position focused on patient assessment, treatment planning, and support for patients, families, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, perform assessments, and implement individualized nursing plans using the nursing process.
• Cross‑train and rotate among Acute Care, Emergency Department, Operating Room, and Outpatient units as needed.
• Document all care accurately in the electronic health record and adhere to infection‑control and safety policies.
• Educate patients and families on health needs, and precept new staff during orientation.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited RN program with a current Montana RN license or multi‑state compact license.
• Minimum one year of experience in acute care, clinic, or hospital setting (preferred).
• BSN degree preferred and knowledge of nursing theory, medical terminology, and HIPAA regulations.
• Excellent organizational, critical‑thinking, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Current BLS certification (required); CPR, NRP, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, ENPC, and Stable certifications within specified time frames.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn electronic health record software.
• Understanding of OSHA regulations, equipment handling, and bio‑hazard disposal.
