Part-Time Lecturer, Economics, Finance and Financial Planning

About the role

The Department of Economics and Finance in the Boler College of Business at John Carroll University is seeking part-time faculty to teach economics, finance and personal financial planning, starting in Fall 2026. Part-time faculty typically teach 1 to 2 courses per semester. The university is a private, Jesuit Catholic institution in University Heights, Ohio.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare course materials and pedagogy to meet course learning goals and objectives.
• Teach classes and deliver course material on assigned days and times.
• Use the university's learning management system to share course information with students.
• Evaluate and grade student work in a timely manner.
• Be available to students during posted hours and respond promptly to departmental and student communications.
• Take part in departmental efforts to assess student learning and collaborate with supervisors and colleagues.

Required profile

• A graduate degree in business (MBA), economics, finance, financial planning/wealth management or a closely related field from an accredited university.
• An undergraduate degree with a nationally recognized certification such as CFA, CFP or CBE, as appropriate to the teaching responsibilities.
• A strong record of professional service and willingness to take part in departmental and university service.
• Commitment to outstanding teaching and an excellent student experience.

Courses are generally taught on campus during the academic year, with class times varying and availability posted outside regular hours. Applications require a cover letter, curriculum vitae, at least one letter of reference and transcripts before any on-campus interview.
