Part-Time Faculty in Psychology (Lecturer)

About the role

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at John Carroll University is seeking part-time faculty to teach core and elective undergraduate courses in psychology. The position is non-tenure track and open until filled.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare course materials and pedagogy to meet course learning goals and objectives.
• Teach classes and deliver course material on assigned days and times.
• Use the university's learning management system to share course information with students.
• Evaluate and grade student work in a timely manner.
• Be available to students during posted hours and respond promptly to departmental and student communications.
• Work with supervisors and colleagues on collaboration, training and development, and take part in departmental efforts to assess student learning.

Required profile

• A master's or Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred.
• A commitment to outstanding teaching and an excellent student experience is required.
• Previous university-level teaching experience is preferred.

Courses are taught on campus during the academic year, face-to-face, with class times varying; instructors are expected to post available time for student questions outside regular class hours. The university is a private, coeducational Jesuit Catholic institution in University Heights, Ohio, with about 2,300 undergraduates and 500 graduate students.
