Clinical Instructor, Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

About the role

John Carroll University's Department of Nursing is looking for a part-time Clinical Instructor (Adjunct Faculty) to prepare undergraduate students for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum as an extension of the lead course faculty. The role is non-tenure track and reports to the BSN Program Director while collaborating with the lead course faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate clinical activities in the skills lab, simulation center and/or affiliated clinical organizations
• Support and supervise students in clinical practice and help them develop clinical judgment under the direction of the lead course faculty
• Follow the State of Ohio Board of Nursing rules, the university's nursing department policies and the standards of the clinical agency where students are placed

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing, or enrollment in a graduate-level nursing program leading to a master's or doctoral degree
• Current, valid, unencumbered Ohio nursing license
• At least 2 years of clinical practice experience
• Criminal history and background check clearance, and required immunizations, TB testing and urine drug screening
• Preferred: current CPR certification

The position is in-person at the University Heights campus and an assigned clinical site that changes each semester. It is part-time, with core hours around 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, though work may fall outside normal hours depending on department needs.
