Director of Nursing Programs

About the role

John Carroll University is seeking an accomplished nursing leader to guide the growth and academic excellence of its nursing programs. Following the graduation of its first BSN cohort in Spring 2026, the university plans to scale the undergraduate program and expand graduate offerings through a proposed multi-track DNP. The Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health and holds accountability for the people, budget, quality, growth and day-to-day performance of the nursing enterprise. The role is non-tenure track.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and evaluate faculty, clinical instructors, coordinators and program staff, and recruit, onboard and retain a diverse, mission-aligned team
• Manage day-to-day operations, including course scheduling, clinical placements, lab and simulation resources, and the program budget
• Oversee admissions, advising, progression and student concerns, and use data to monitor enrollment, retention, licensure and employment
• Lead strategic planning, new programs and accreditation, and build partnerships with Cleveland-area health systems and community organizations
• Ensure compliance with Ohio Board of Nursing requirements and CCNE standards, and teach one nursing course per year

Required profile

• Valid, unencumbered Ohio RN license (or multistate license privileging practice in Ohio) at the time of appointment
• Master's degree in nursing from an accredited program
• DNP, PhD or EdD, or a realistic completion date within two years of appointment
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience, including at least three years leading and supervising teams of licensed professionals
• Demonstrated teaching experience in academic nursing, clinical education or professional development
