Part-Time Cook

About the role

Monarch Communities is looking for a part-time Cook to prepare meals for its senior living residents, their families and guests. The Cook reports to the Director of Culinary Services and studies recipes, sets up menus and prepares high-quality dishes. The schedule is Monday and Tuesday 11:30am-7:30pm and weekends 6am-2pm, with an hourly pay range of $20.00-$21.00.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve quality meals and meet special dietary needs, including texture-modified food as directed
• Study recipes, set up menus and prepare complete menus for the community
• Keep accurate records, receive, rotate and inventory products, and maintain regulatory compliance
• Monitor food preparation, storage and handling to comply with HACCP, labeling and storage protocols
• Maintain accurate hot and cold food, refrigerator and freezer temperature logs
• Attend all scheduled in-service training and comply with federal, state and local regulations and community policies

Required profile

• Current ServSafe certification or ability to obtain it
• One year of job-related experience in food preparation, full-line menu items and special diets
• High school diploma or GED
• Organizational and time-management skills, with good judgment, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
