Part-Time Cook

About the role

Hilton Garden Inn Chicagoland - Lake Forest in Mettawa, Illinois, is hiring a part-time cook. The cook prepares food items according to recipes and standards while keeping a safe and sanitary work environment. Pay is $18.00 to $20.00 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Follow recipes to prepare food items.
• Wash, peel and cut fruits and vegetables; cut, trim or clean meat.
• Prepare appetizers, salads and cold dishes.
• Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods.
• Bake breads, rolls and other baked goods.
• Portion, arrange and garnish food for pickup by servers or delivery to guests.
• Maintain clean and sanitized work areas such as cutting boards, counters and workspaces.
• Secure and store food properly and follow safe food handling procedures.
• Follow sustainability guidelines related to the HHM EarthView program and wear protective safety equipment.
• Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward higher departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Required profile

• High school diploma preferred.
• Previous culinary experience or equivalent training required.
• A Department of Health Sanitation certificate may be required.
• Schedule varies and may include holidays, weekends and alternate shifts; the work involves standing for long periods, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds and bending and reaching.
