Paramedic – Per Diem

About the role

Lehigh Valley Health Network seeks a Per Diem Paramedic to provide advanced pre‑hospital and intra‑hospital emergency care. You will work as part of a two‑person ambulance crew, responding to both emergency and non‑emergency calls in the Hazleton area.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls, operate specially equipped emergency vehicles, and provide advanced life support using equipment such as bag‑valve‑mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and ECG monitors.
• Assess injuries or illnesses, stabilize patients, administer medications, and document care in electronic patient charts.
• Represent the ambulance service at public events, provide standby services, and ensure the ambulance is cleaned and decontaminated after each transport.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of EMT‑B or AEMT experience.
• Ability to assess acute and chronic patients, communicate with medical personnel, and follow infection‑control procedures.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb, push/pull up to 140 lb, and perform frequent standing, walking, squatting, and climbing.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
• State of Pennsylvania EMT‑Paramedic license and National Registry of EMT‑Paramedics.
• EMS Vehicle Operator certification, Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and NIMS 100/200/700 training.
