Paramedic

About the role

The Paramedic provides emergency medical care to victims of accidents, violence, and sudden illnesses, delivering pre‑hospital and intra‑hospital advanced life support from initial contact until hand‑off to the receiving facility.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a member of a two‑person ambulance crew responding to emergency and non‑emergency calls.
• Operate advanced life‑support equipment such as bag‑valve‑mask resuscitators, external defibrillators, and electrocardiograms.
• Assess injuries or illnesses, prioritize medical procedures, and provide stabilization, immobilization, and transport.
• Document assessments and treatments using patient care charting software.
• Communicate with medical personnel at receiving facilities to coordinate care.
• Maintain and decontaminate the ambulance after transporting patients with infectious disease.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 2 years of Pre‑Hospital EMT‑B or AEMT experience.
• Ability to assess acute and chronic patients, document information, and follow infection‑control procedures.
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and ability to lift and move heavy loads.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• EMT‑Paramedic (EMT‑P) state certification.
• National Registry EMT‑Paramedic certification.
• Emergency Medical Service Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certification.
• Pre‑hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification.
• NIMS 100, 200, 700 training (preferred).
