Paramedic – Emergency Department

About the role

The Emergency Department at Mercy Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is seeking a Paramedic to provide advanced life‑support care during evening shifts. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, helping to stabilize patients and support nursing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs, perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, and suctioning (oral, nasal, ET).
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, saline locks, and administer fluids or medications.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, and patient restraints.
• Transport patients and specimens, maintain supplies, and ensure confidentiality.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program and current Ohio EMTP licensure.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (or obtain within one year).
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform extensive standing/walking.

Required skills

• EMS‑Paramedic clinical skills (advanced life support, trauma care).
• Phlebotomy, EKG acquisition, and CPR proficiency.
• Cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, and saline lock insertion.
• Knowledge of ITLS (preferred) and restraint techniques.
