Paramedic – Adult Emergency Department (Night Shift)

About the role

The Emergency Department at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a night‑shift Paramedic to provide advanced life support and emergency care to adult patients. This position works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career paramedic looking to start a hospital‑based career.

Key responsibilities

• Assess urgent medical needs, obtain vital signs, and perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, and suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, saline locks, and administer fluids or drugs as directed.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, and apply orthopedic appliances or simple splints.
• Transport patients and specimens, maintain confidentiality, and follow standard precautions with personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program.
• Current Ohio EMTP licensure and Basic Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required within one year of hire.
• Physical ability to lift patients and perform moderate‑to‑heavy work.

Required skills

• Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) preferred.
