Packaging Operator - Top Seal

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Packaging Operator for its 24/7 manufacturing facility. The role is hands-on and involves operating gable-top carton filling and packaging equipment, performing quality checks and supporting production change-overs. Operators are assigned to a team on a 3-shift, 24/7 operation (days, swing or night, including weekends) and may work up to 12 hours per day.

Key responsibilities

• Operate gable-top carton filling and packaging equipment safely and efficiently, following standard operating procedures without deviation.
• Collect routine product samples, test seal integrity for leaks and tears, and carry out dye inspections for quality assurance.
• Set up packaging coders and validate product codes according to specifications; identify and report out-of-specification conditions using the notification protocol.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments, change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and set-up, and maintain good housekeeping.
• Complete production records accurately, support internal and external audits, and comply with food safety, GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Operate a lift truck safely and cross-train with other departments.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; minimum two years of work experience in food manufacturing, with dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Successful completion of a drug screen and background check; good attendance is essential.
• Ability to work in a noisy, temperature-changing manufacturing environment, lift up to 40 lbs frequently, and work shifts including weekends.

Required skills

• Lift truck certification or ability to obtain it (Powered Industrial Truck).
• Understanding of food manufacturing acronyms such as SQF, QA/QC, CQP, HACCP, SOP, 5S and GMP.
• Strong math and technical skills, including operating equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations.
• Advanced quality/food safety training or certification is a plus.
