OR Service Assistant I

About the role

The OR Service Assistant I supports surgical operations at Florida Weston Hospital by transporting patients, preparing the operating room, and managing equipment and supplies. This full‑day, day‑shift position works closely with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in transporting patients and setting up the OR for a variety of complex cases.
• Maintain, operate, and clean surgical instrument sets and special equipment.
• Coordinate and track loaned and borrowed equipment and supplies.
• Monitor supply expiration dates, order supplies, and manage inventory.
• Document equipment repairs and act as a liaison to educate staff on proper equipment use.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lb and push/pull carts up to 200 lb.
• Full range of motion, corrected vision and hearing, and willingness to wear required personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Sterile processing knowledge or certification (preferred).
