Blood Bank Lead Medical Technologist

About the role

The Blood Bank Lead Medical Technologist provides technical leadership and ensures accurate, timely reporting of laboratory test results within the General Lab at Florida Weston Hospital. This position works an evening/night rotation and supports quality, compliance, and efficient workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory testing (waived, moderately complex, and highly complex) following CLIA standards.
• Supervise, train, and mentor medical technology students and new laboratory personnel.
• Maintain instrument performance through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Coordinate workflow, monitor pending logs, and ensure timely completion of tests.

Required profile

• Current Florida licensure at the technologist level.
• Two years of laboratory experience, preferably in microbiology, immunohematology, or blood banking.
• Doctorate, master’s, bachelor’s or associate degree in a clinical laboratory science or medical technology field.
• Completion of required continuing education to maintain certification.

Required skills

• Clinical Laboratory Medicine principles and CLIA regulations.
• Immunohematology and microbiology testing techniques.
• Laboratory instrumentation operation and maintenance.
• Proficiency with laboratory computer systems and data reporting.
• ASCP certification (preferred).
