Ophthalmic Assistant (Certified or Non-Certified)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks an Ophthalmic Assistant to support vision care at Hillcrest Hospital. Working under a licensed ophthalmologist, you will help deliver patient examinations, perform diagnostic tests, and ensure smooth clinic operations during a day shift.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations or treatments.
• Perform initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures, and routine screening tests.
• Assist physicians during examinations and procedures and document findings in medical records.
• Handle clerical duties, maintain exam rooms, and manage inventory of supplies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year of experience in an ophthalmic setting providing direct patient care, or equivalent formal education/training in ophthalmology.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lb, stand or walk for extended periods, and possess normal visual acuity including color discrimination.

Required skills

• Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and a computer.
• Proficiency in performing ophthalmic diagnostic tests and screening procedures.
