Open‑Rank Faculty Position in Chemical & Petroleum Engineering

About the role

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh seeks an open‑rank, tenure‑track faculty member. The successful candidate will lead and expand research programs, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the department’s strategic initiatives in energy, sustainability, and biomedical engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program.
• Teach core and elective courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Mentor graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Collaborate with university centers such as the Center for Simulation and Modeling, the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, and industry partners including Lubrizol and Covestro.
• Participate in departmental service, recruitment, and diversity initiatives.
