About the role

The Nutrition Assistant works under the supervision of the Director of Food & Nutrition to deliver menus, assist patients with meal selections, and ensure dietary orders are accurately entered and communicated.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver and collect menus from patient care units and explain the selection process.
  • Enter patient meal selections into the CBORD system and verify adherence to dietary orders.
  • Handle inbound patient calls, update meal selections, and ensure two‑patient‑identifier verification.
  • Check trays for accuracy, run tray tickets, and coordinate with Registered Dietitians as needed.
  • Perform clerical duties, manage inventory of menus, and assist with unit order preparation.

Required profile

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to understand dietary terminology and follow standard precautions.
  • Basic computer proficiency and typing skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.

Required skills

  • Use of the CBORD dietary menu system.
  • Operation of hand‑held devices or computers for order entry.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs or more.
