Nursing Student Learning Specialist

About the role

Covista, which operates Chamberlain University, is hiring a full-time Nursing Student Learning Specialist in Tysons Corner, VA. The specialist works with academic partners, faculty and staff to give students academic reinforcement and strategies as they prepare for the NCLEX-RN exam, and supports clinical learning labs and simulated patient care experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate simulation-based experiences (SBE) and labs, including equipment maintenance, supply ordering, set-up and clean-up
• Provide academic support based on detailed, accurate knowledge of NCLEX-RN concepts and current nursing practice
• Help create Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops
• Develop and run clinically based scenarios using high-fidelity patient simulators, and supervise lab experiences so students meet course objectives
• Staff open labs and give individual oversight to students during practice and remediation of technical nursing skills
• Offer individual or group tutoring and participate in outreach to at-risk students
• Report students' academic and co-curricular progress to academic leadership, such as the retention committee

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing; Master's degree in nursing preferred
• 1+ year of experience in an academic setting supporting classroom instruction or tutoring preferred
• Current, unencumbered RN license
• BLS CPR certification; ACLS and/or PALS preferred

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and proofreading
• Ability to work with people from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds

• Salary range of $49,199.33 to $86,253.75, depending on experience, location, licensure and other factors
