Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Perioperative

About the role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist – Perioperative will design, deliver and evaluate educational programs for perioperative nurses across Martin Health North, South and Tradition hospitals. The role includes onboarding, ongoing professional development, mentorship and collaboration with clinical staff and leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and facilitate onboarding and continuing education sessions for perioperative nursing staff.
• Identify learning needs, conduct needs assessments and create curricula aligned with adult learning principles.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities using appropriate assessment tools.
• Mentor caregivers, provide feedback and track competency outcomes.
• Collaborate with department leaders and educators to maintain a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• BSN or MSN (with non‑nursing bachelor’s degree acceptable).
• Current RN licensure in the state.
• Minimum two years of recent clinical nursing experience, including preceptor or BCLS/ACLS instruction.
• Demonstrated knowledge of education methodology, curriculum development and adult learning.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
