Nursing Professional Development Specialist – New Nurse Success Coach

About the role

The Nursing Professional Development Specialist supports Cleveland Clinic’s mission by delivering evidence‑based education to nursing staff across Hillcrest Hospital and other campuses. This full‑time, day‑shift position provides off‑shift coaching and professional development for caregivers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, direct, implement, and evaluate educational programs tailored to nursing staff knowledge and skill levels.
• Identify learning needs, develop curricula, and assess the effectiveness of educational activities.
• Consult with the Nursing Institute, Ambulatory Nursing, and community partners on professional practice.
• Assist in department‑specific orientation, competency development, and staff onboarding.
• Maintain a cataloging system for teaching‑learning resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) and current RN licensure.
• At least two years of recent clinical nursing experience, including preceptor or instructor roles.
• Knowledge of education methodology, needs assessment, curriculum development, instructional design, and adult learning principles.
• Strong presentation skills.

Required skills

• BCLS or ACLS instructor certification.
• Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
• Ability to assess learning needs and evaluate educational outcomes.
